slugs, and a pepper

Cayenne pepper here, just barely growing. It put out a pepper but clearly doesnt like it.

Green bean seeds fll on the ground nearby and grew. Looks to me like a slug did a number on this one.

Cosmos are gorgeous, really, though need deadheading

MAYBE the crocosmia I moved will do OK.  Maybe not.  The red flowering currant behind it is definitely going to move.

Grape tomato!! Last of four!

Cherry tomato and green bean craziness

bean plant

This bean plant wound its way from the ground, up a glowing butterfly, into the blueberry plant, the into the red flowering currant and the pacific wax myrtle, and eventually over the fence into the neighbor's yard!

Mid-August update

First Toad Lily blooms of the year.

Unfortunately, the plant is a mess. There's a large aboveground spinkler there that beats the crap out of them. I bet they grow back fine next year. I do like them (though worry about their toxicity, even though it's not berries), and they're one of the few things that do well in the fall when most things have slowed down.  Maybe next year we can get the irrigation over here buried, and these can grow back in better shape!

First ripe huckleberry! Yes, I ate it, and yes, it was good!

Tomato plant has gone wild in the heat. Several bean plants are climbing all over the place, too, though I do't see any beans yet!

Yay! The fuchsia bloomed, and it's beautiful!

These Crocosmia look better and better every day. I love them!

Tomatoes! Actually getting ripe, too!

Summer Heat

Geraniums after their haircut.

Red huckleberry is half-dead. Crap, I don't think this part of the garden is getting enough water from the buried lines to survive this kind of heat.

Crocosmia are gorgeous!  Love them! These are the ones I planted here this year, not the ones I moved, which are not nearly as happy (and probably underwatered -- hope they come back next year!)

New August Blooms

Daylily - Purple de Oro.  More red than purple and certainly not getting multiple flushes -- two plants are blooming a little. They must want more sun than they get over here, I think. Most of them aren't blooming at all!  But this plant, now that it has bloomed, it's just beautiful.

Yay! One of the fuchsias from last year is finally going to bloom!

OK, the hardy geranium is out of control. Going to have to pick the blueberries this is trying to cover up, and mow the lawn it's over. And it's looking ragged in real life. Time to trim!  This is the "before" picture.
