tiny plants

It looks like a tiny astilbe is coming up under the big rhodie! Last year I did not water them enough and they seemed to die, though I left their roots in place. I didn't expect anything, but left a couple inches of stem to show where they'd been, so I didn't disturb them. Just in case. Now - I see a tiny pink shoot!

There's also a small shoot under the rhodie that looks like a brand new Oregon grape. There are four along the western fence, from the corner by the big rhodie to behind the scraggly rhodie. I think they are managing to spread!
