peas and bulbs and spring

Seven peas in the ground have finally shown themselves and are about a half-inch tall at most.

Many tulips are up, but they are ragged and ugly. The dog sits on them.

Andrew just tossed off the cap of his sandbox onto daffodils. Snapped several and bent more. Oops! Flowers too delicate to be near a play spot.

The first hyacinth is opening. It's yellow. Many muscari are out.

Mukdenia bloomed. Dog snapped that too!

No sign of the lady in red ferns that looked like they were already growing. Scratched around, can't find. Probably dead. :-(

No sign of trilliums either, but you never know with them.

Gold leaf are  dicentra growing well, but no sign of the others yet.

The Jacobs ladder closest to the patio that I didn't cut out (never died of cold) looks good. The odds I did cut Bach isn't out yet. The brunnera near the back patio are trying to come up despite the dog's efforts there.

New growth on evergreen huckleberries and the tassel ferns all look great. The oxalis is growing fast.

Two astilbe from last year under the big rhodie are coming back.
